The Road Not Taken
by, Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

  1. The part where is says "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. " almost seems like its saying, don't always be a follower. Make your decisions and do what you want. Don't always take the path that everyone els is taking just because they are. It can make a big diffrence in your life if you take the path you want.

  2. the poem describes how you should choose the harder path, not the easy way out and it will be rewarding. my family didnt come from the best circumstances but my father choose the harder path by working hard to become sucessful and now he dosent have to work late or go with out. because he worked hard we now live a good life

  3. This poem could be put to use with me and my mom. She wants me to travel down the road she did. And i dont want to. I want to make my own mistakes "take my own road" as you might want to say. Like the last line says "I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all a difference" to me it means to me that it would be a big difference if i went down the road my mom did, than go down the road i want to. I want to make my own mistakes, do my own thing. Even though my mom wants me to take the road she did so she can tell me what is going to happen and she will know i'm safe. "The road more woren" as the poem implies.

  4. Dylan price: I have all ways interpided this poem as there are two roads in life and one can lead to ether wealth and loneliness and the other could be poor but extreme happiness. But most people take the so called wealthy path so it takes a good hearted person to take the road less taken. for instance most people around me take the easy way out. but it is harder to take your own way insted of following others

  7. This poem reminds me of when I had to choose between to of my bestfriends. They had gotten in a fight and they were maken me choose sides. It was a very hard thing to do but i decided to choose neither one because I didnt want to lose to people I was really close to. So as you can see my the poem is kind of like what i had to go through.

  8. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

The poem basically and literally is saying that he is trying to tell all generations if they take the road not traveled commonly by, as in take the harder way of life, you will make more mistakes, therefore learn. And you will succeed from doing so.

  9. Do you take the road everyone takes or do you take the one no one takes? I think I'd take the road no one else takes because I intend on working for everything I own. Taking the easy way doesn't get you recongnized in life.
Be a leader, and everything you expect to get out of life, work for it.

  10. this poem to me means that in life that you should make your own choices and not care about what anybody thinks about it. If there is something you wanna do don't be afraid to just do it. My older sister, Sadi Swaney, doesn't care what anyone thinks if she wants to do something, she's gonna do it because she wants to not because everyone else wants to. You're life shouldn't be lived like everyone elses in the wolrd, just the way you want it to be. Don't be afraid to do what you want to, no matter what anyone else thinks.

  12. It could mean that if you take the road less traveled and make your own way that you won't be one of the norm a cookie cutter for instance, no matter how many times you cut with it, it is still the shape you had when you started. When you take take the road less traveled you can be anything you can start of as an ant and end up as a horse.

  13. The Poem says that sometimes you have to choose between two things and that it can be hard. It may more than likely pay off if you take the road not many people choose it will pay off better in the long run because you worked harder to get where you wanted to be.

  14. This poem doesn't really relate to me. I'm not saying that I always take the easy way but I don't always take the hard way out of things. Now that I have read this poem, I am not going to always take the easy way out of the worst situations. The poem really makes me want to take the road less traveled by, and see how much better the outcome is. Hubert Tolbert 3rd

  17. The Road Not Taken makes me think about many different things. People preferring a life of wealth and a more common road to unhappiness and a life of happiness and love and just getting by to enjoy life. Also it makes me think about people trying to take the easier path in life. If you cut yourself short you wont make it much farther than the people that take a less traveled path because they want to work harder and have different experience in life.

  18. i like this poem because it describes a simple way to live life. the person in the poem chose to walk the road that had been less traveled and it made all the difference which i think means that taking a road that has been less traveled will be a much more exciting way to live.

  19. This poem talk about the paths of the life. We all always have to choose a path to walk through. Some choose a path full of happiness, understanding,Knowledge, vanity, succeed, dignity and wisdom but some choose the path full of loneliness, failures, resentment, complicated and no succeed at all and those people soonner or later will be in a whole with no escape. I can relate this poem with the relation my moms has with me. She is a person that always tell me what's wrong or bad but the best part about it is that she make me do my own mistakes but she also correct them. She don't let no one to take advantage of me.And that's how relate this poem with my familia and own life.

This poem is trying to say that you shouldnt always follow the same path as others. You should travel the road you want too and maybe the one less traveled by is the right one. This relates to my family because we will be moving again soon possibly. and I would rather stay here then to move. So i rather go down a diffrent path then so down the one that leads to me moving again.

This poem is saying sometimes you have to choose between two things that you really want even though it may be really hard but at the end itll be all worth it, even if it takes a long time.

  23. this poem is talking a bit about choices in life and the popularity of a certain choice. The narrator chose to take the least popular path and then apologizes saying he shouldve taken the other path.

  24. I like this poem. It's about making decisions. Either way you choose, there is a consequince. In the poem, he mentions that he took the road less traveled by. That means he took the harder road. In the end, it paid off. In life, we could use this as an example of how to choose between two things.

  25. This poem to me is saying that you should take the road you want to and not the one someone else wants. You are your own person. This kinda relates to me. I want to be amazing and amount to something in my life. I want to go to college and attend medical school. I always want the best grades, i'm the kind of person that takes the time to study i don't go hang out with friends all the time. I like to be unique and in this poem it's saying be unique, be your own person. I want to be a leader.

  26. this poem speaks in a deep tone as if this person is expereincing something that only he could deal with but i could be wrong it could mean something else the deepness of this poem is to hard for me to comprehend (understand) but for the most part thats all that i got out of the poem i hope im atleast close.

  27. The poem is talking about choosing the harder path of life, or taking the easy way out. The poem is saying that in the end, not taking the easy way out of life will give you rewards in the long run. This poem relates to my family's point of view as to what I should believe in and how it differs from what I want to believe in. I noticed this when the poem talks about two roads diverged, and speaking of one that is traveled on more, and deciding whether to pick that one, or the one that not many people take. My parents expect me to believe in a certain religion, which of course they believe is what is best for me, but I have different beliefs than them. I believe this poem is asking me, "Do you want to lie to them and follow their beliefs, or do you want to follow your own, even if it may cause problems in the family?" So, I really enjoy this poem, since it is one almost anyone can relate to in their own way.

  31. This poem is talking about paths that you choose to take in life.I think that my mom and grandmom would use this poem to tell which path in life i am taking and tell me that i am walking on the wrong paththey would tell me not to walk the same path as my sister but to walk the same path as they did.I think that everybody should walk there own path and see where it takes them.

I like this poem a lot. Its meaning, I believe, is that a person has two big choices in life to make. Both being different and having their consequences. The first road is the choice that most people make and the second road is the choice that not many people make. By traveling that second road can be a risk but it could be the better choice for you in the long run. This relates to me because my parents don't want me to by in the military. They want be to either go to college with my own money or just get a job out of high school and that is not what I want to do.

  33. My dad wants me to become a vet and we fight about it all the time and I have just shut up and not saying thing and finally I took a stand and said no thats not what I want I want to do what I want to do and I am not gonna let you get in my way

  34. This poem is really relative to my life, all my life my dad has made the decision for me that i have to go into the military. Well it has influenced my life because i want to go to college and not go into the military, so we have bumped heads, which i feel in a way disappoints him. I'm the kind of person that wants everyone to like me, and when my own father is disappointed in me, it really makes me contemplate my decision.

  35. "The Road Not Taken" is saying don't follow people take your own path, just because it works for them doesn't mean its going to work for you. I can't relate to this poem because my parents want me to take my own path, sometimes I want to change my mind about what I want to be but they always tell me to keep the one I been having. Be a leader not a follower

  36. I've heard the words of this poem ever since the fifth grade. I means that when tough times are happening, you either have to choose a path that is more difficult than what is already happening, or to choose a path that would make life a bit easier, but it would still be hard. Robert chose the hard path, and everything turned out all right, and when he looks back on it, he knows he made the right choice.

To me the meaning of this poem is that you should take the road that you want to take and not the road that everyone else wants you to take and you should take the road that will pay off in the long run. Taking the road that will pay off in the long run might have a rough begging but all the hard work you put in will pay off at the end. I personally do not like having to get good grades but I am really proud that my parents push me to because no matter what I have to go to school so I might as well do my best while I’m here. My whole life my dad has pushed me to be better than I am for instance when I use to race motocross my dad would have a stopwatch and he would time how long it took me to make a lap around the track and he would just push me harder and harder. He would push me so hard that I would go to fast over a jump and I would end up crashing because I over shot the jumps. Looking back now I am glad that he pushed me as hard as he did.

  39. This poem is very understandble to me because my mom thinks that I am going to go down the heard path of life like she did. But in all actuality I myself have learned from her mistakes that she made and still makes and even though sometimes I want to make the mistake on my own, i appreciate the fact that she wants better for me than she had. But what she doesnt realize is that by being herself i already have a easier path.

  40. This poem seems to relate problems. The fork in the road reresents your choices. This poem relates to my family because when we get put through hard times, my parents won't ask for help or try to get the quick way out, they'll push through the peom, or take the harder path.(private reason, same as other)

  41. This poem is in alot of ways discribes me. Alot in my life when im in school I took the easy way out with my grades and just kind of got by without alot of effort and my sister go to the same school and makes all A's. It really puts me down. I want to get my grades better even if I have to take the harder road and try more in my classes. I want to go to collage and thats a road much of my family has not taken

There was a time when i had to choose what road to take. And for some reason or someway i took the hard road to go and sometime i really wish i took the easy road. But at the end of the day i glad i took the hard road because I get to come home to my motherr and sister. So if i have to choose again i would take the same road.

  44. At the end of the year after senior graduation I am supposed to go stay with my bedtfriend in Aberdeen Maryland; whom I've been knowing since the 5th grade for the summer. They have asked me to come live with them after the summer is over to goto school basically my new home. Now I have a really hard choice because I don't want to leave behind everything here like my family friends especially school because the school up there doesn't have a cosmeotology and that's what I'm currently taking and I wanted to be a hair stylist well maybe but I want to take the classed during my highscool year because it will help me get into a better school after i graduate. So I really don't know what I'm going to do, but that's how this story relates to me and my life.

  47. 'two woods diverged in a yellow wood and i took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference.' to me this poem means staying true to yourself and not letting other people lead you astray. i believe you need to follow your heart and do right for yourself. if you go by what you believe then in the long run you will be good as gold! this poem brings me to someone very dear to me who was out with his friends and they offered him drugs. he said no to his friends and left immediately. he took the road less taken. he took the high road after his so called friends begged him to join them. it has paid off for him now.

The poem relates to me right now. As i try to better myself and i am getting dedicated to what i want to do in the future.
